Thursday Night Plans?

I definitely don't have any. Unless you count watching the return of some of my favorite shows...EVER:

my vcr will be one busy cookie once the other shows premiere. i'm already going to tape 6 Degrees tonight on ABC. because i love JJ Abrams, but I love ER more. Once Ugly Betty Starts though...it's really going to heat up. Maybe i'll hate one of those shows and drop it. But i know that these four are SOLID recurring dates every thursday night. oh, what a sad life i lead....

more dick! more dick!

I just watched this interview (you can find it here, scroll down on the left hand side in the video box) with Ryan Hansen, who plays Dick Casablancas on Veronica Mars, and all I have to say about this upcoming season is...

GIVE ME MORE DICK!

so what if his character is dumber than a box of rocks? his bro bro jumped off a building, he barely graduated high school, and has probably slept with most of the fictional ladies of Neptune High? He's freakin Hot Stuff. with a captial HS. plus, he's so uncomplicated (save the bro bro being a mass murderer and jumping off a building thing) that he's too damn likeable.

I hope he gets MAD screentime. cause i love dick...casablancas.

i just can't resist...

a sports movie.

i love them. they ALWAYS make me cry, yet feel so happy when it's all over. I just watched the trailer for We Are Marshall and nearly teared up. but maybe i almost cried because Matthew Fox will be on the big screen in all his emotive glory. watch it, you'll know what i'm talking about. oh yeah, and matthew mccon-nameisridiculoustospell is in it too.

but seriously, a sports movie (based on a true story or not) almost always has all the components a good movie should have. like:

  • action sequences - during the games, duh
  • a hardened character/coach/player who warms up at the end
  • comedy - usually insults between the players
  • drama - they never get along well at the beginning
  • a love interest - even if it's with the sport itself
  • resolution - KEY to making everyone who leaves the theatre happy

here for you, in random order, are my favorite* sports movies**...

Field of Dreams
The Mighty Ducks
Miracle
The Rookie
Remember the Titans

and my number one favorite sports movie of all time...

Rudy: Jon Favreau, Samwise Gamgee (i mean, Sean Astin) and Vince Vaughn? yep, i'm there.

*i would have included Rookie of the Year, but decided not to. "Funky Buttloving" is still in my daily vocabulary though.
**Angels in the Outfield also gets shut out, simply because it stars Tony Danza. I don't want to see Tony Danza do anything but tap dance, clean, and fight with Angela, Mona or Samantha.
