tying up loose ends

so i realize i never told the story of my newest tattoo...

sorry about that.

here goes....last weekend, my mom returned to me a necklace she had borrowed a few weeks before that. it was my celtic trinity necklace that i bought at the Argyle Fair in Babylon Village a few years ago for around 5 bucks. it's one of my favorite pieces of jewelry, and i wear it pretty often. anyway, as she was digging it out of her bag, she mentioned tattoos. she talks about tattoos a lot, because she "always wanted one," or "never wanted one until we started getting them"...either way, it's something she wants. she found the necklace in her bag, handed it to me and said, "If i were going to get a tattoo it would be that."

so i said, "ok, when do you want to go? because i'm free."

then allie came in the room, and we made the date. the next day, the three of us got matching tattoos. they're all the same design, but slightly different - just like the three of us.

1. my mom got hers on her back, right below her neck. she has grey shading in hers.
2. allie got hers on her left wrist, and got green shading, to match the shamrock she's got on her back.
3. mine is plain, no shading.

that's it. that's the whole story.

Dusk and Summer

in case you havent picked up the new dashboard confessional album, you really should. i made my itunes purchase last night, and have been listening to it non-stop. it's good. dare i say, great.

favorite cuts so far:

don't wait
stolen
the secret's in the telling
currents

since that's 40% of the album, i'll stop there.

and, because you're lucky and i'm me....some pictures of the very pretty chris carrabba...

we almost never get to see that smile....so cute.

this is the dashboard we all love and adore...the brooding one. and man do i love your ink.

grillin and chillin

last night allie and i took advantage of the few hours of nice weather and decided to bust out our new grill (as shown in the picture to the left).

we made chicken cutlets smothered in honey bbq sauce. after grilling, we put them on buns and had awesome bbq chicken sandwiches. allie even shredded her chicken. it was glorious.

grilling always makes me think of my dad, when i was growing up. every summer he would make it his mission to grill about 5 times a week. sometimes we would play catch in the backyard while waiting for something to cook, or he would practice his golf swing, or try to (horribly) teach me how to swing a club. with the exception of when allie and i were tiny tots, it was the only time we would actually play in the backyard. there was nothing back there that was particularly cool...just grass and a weird flag pole (that went unused, for the entire time we lived there) and children are fickle, so most of the time we played in the front yard, where everyone could see that we were having a good time. or, we resorted to playing in other kids' yards, namely those who had swing sets or pools.

with the sale of my parent's house last week, and the upcoming divorce finalization, i'm trying to find happy things to remember, and our summer grilling was definitely happy.

it's good to know at least, that the couple who bought the house have a toddler, and she'll probably come to love the house i called "home" for 23 years.

tapped out

i give up.

ok, i don't really give up. but part of the reason why i haven't blogged in a while is that i just don't have anything cool to say. at all. i barely have uncool things to say. what is this post here? it's nothing. it's a post on how i got nothing. temporary drought. i'm going to try to force myself to post stuff. maybe that'll get the creative juices flowing. oh, and i'm going on vacation on saturday. so i probably won't post at all next week, even though there's an internet cafe near where i'm staying. i'll probably only check my email. who knows, maybe i'll feel so disconnected that i'll have to post something. god. what a waste of cyberspace i am today.

sorry.
